Ann Bragg never planned to become such a pioneer. It wasn’t a conscious objective. But then again, when you’re as hard working and goal-oriented as Ann, breaking down barriers is the natural result. For example, she earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston in just three years. She was one of the first women admitted to the university’s Johnson Space Center program, opening doors for other women. From there, she went on to serve as an aerospace engineer for NASA, where her responsibilities included ensuring the safety and reliability of astronauts’ space suits. Her pioneering ways continued, later serving as the first woman President of the Dickinson Rotary Club.

“I’ve always enjoyed being on the cutting edge,” Ann says. “It’s exciting to be out in front of the curve, developing new solutions and leading the way for future generations.”

After Ann started a family and began raising her two children, she felt she could no longer commit herself to the travel and long hours necessary to succeed at NASA.
